WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Make-A-Wish Foundation held a Walk for Wishes today at Wrightsville Beach.
Hundreds of walkers laced up their shoes and came out despite the rain to raise money to help make kids wishes come true right here in Eastern North Carolina.
Eastern North Carolina Make-A-Wish president and CEO, Kristen Johnson, said the foundation grants about 200 wishes every year in this area.
Wishes matter. Wishes help kids feel more helpful, they inspire the kids to dream big and have something to focus on during a really incredibly difficult time for the child and their family,” said Johnson.
Johnson said today they raised over $50,000. Their goal for this year is to raise $3.4 million for granting wishes.
